History of Sevilla

Sevilla is a vibrant capital of Andalucia, a wonderful region in the south of Spain with a mix of cultures, religions and centuries of history. trans History of Sevilla
During ages many different cultures have setteled in the city.  Sevilla possesses an impressive legacy of Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian treasures. For more than six centuries the Romans had governed the region and constructed roads, buildings and aquaducts. However the Muslim civilization had the most impact on the city. Their Moorish reign lasted for almost eight centuries from 711 until the “Reyes Católicos” took over in 1492. Some of the city’s most important buildings are as a heritage of this period.
Sevilla achieved its greatest glory during the two centuries after Columbus had discovered America. They became a hub of all trade and the gateway from Europe to America thus becoming one of the richest cities in Spain. Many aristocrats, artists, painters, writers and architects have left their signs in the city which can be seen in the wonderful monuments, churches, art galleries and museums around the city.
Today, with its 27 centuries of history, Sevilla is a very modern city with a modern infrastructure and great conference facilities hosting large events like the Iberamerican Exhibition in 1929, the World Exhibition Expo in 1992 and the Athletics World Championship in 1999.
