New Year’s Eve is an exciting and important event everywhere in the world, as we say goodbye to the previous year and welcome the new one, with hopes and wishes that it will bring us joy and prosperity. Some people say that the way one celebrates New Year’s Eve predetermines the way one will spend the entire year ahead. So, if this is true, spending that special night in Barcelona will assure you the most wonderful and exciting year. The general tradition at New Year’s in Barcelona, and in the rest of Spain, is to have dinner with family and friends. When the clock reaches midnight, everyone eat 12 grapes, one for each chime, and a toast with Cava or Champagne. In Barcelona you can follow this tradition either at home, in a restaurant (most offer special dinner and programs for the night), or outdoors. Plaza Catalunya is always beautifully decorated with lights and offers a great show of fireworks wich makes thousands of people gather there every New Year’s Eve. The Torre Agbar offers a unique light show at 12 which can be seen from many places all over the city. After midnight the younger generation usually head to one of the many clubs for a ”Cotillone de Nochevieja”- a New Year’s Eve party. The clubs are always full so make sure you book your tabel or buy your ticket in time, it can get quite difficult to get in. Most places offer special packages for a set price that include entrence, free drinks and often even a gourmet dinner. The parties are not over untill the sun has risen and then it’s time for another New Year’s tradition, the typical winter breakfast, chocolate and pastries. Due to Barcelona’s mild climate many head down to the beach to enjoy this with a fantastic view over the mediterranean sea. Barcelona-home offers a wide selection of great accommodation alternatives, all centrally located. Why not rent an apartment in Barcelona with your entire family or with a group of friends? You will experiance the ultimate end of the year and an unforgettable beginning of a new one. Book your accommodation today.

The second one is called the Hot Club (first floor). A space with its own personality located on the first floor of the discoteque. Its a little club inside the club, with two bars, an independent sound and light booth, as well as a spectacular audiovisual and lighting system.
The hot club has more an international and cosmopolitan atmosphere where you can find the best sounds of black music, funk and hip hop.

The first Space Disco was opened in Ibiza 1989 and it took 15 years to open the second one outside of the island in Barcelona.
When you are entering the mythic floor of the Space Discotheque you will see a full room with an extravagant party crowd, dancing every Saturday, to the sound of the dj´s.
Usually the music is going from house to electro. The fantastic sound system, as well as, the live performances of dancers and vocalists on the big stage will bring you close to the Ibiza-culture.
All in all, this may be the reason that Space Ibiza is one of the best clubs in the world right now.

Carpe Diem Lounge Club, or CDLC, is a must visit for people who enjoy a luxury place to have food and drinks. It is an exotic lounge club located on the beach in Barceloneta. There is a nice terrace, that looks out on to the beach, and inside there are beds which you can lye on and enjoy a drink, and you may also close the curtains around the bed if you prefer a little privacy.
The atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant or bar, and has oriental decorations throughout the place, such as buddha statues and wood carvings. Not only do they serve drinks, but they also have delicious foods, ranging from sushi and sashimi to an assortment of appetizers, salads, pastas and rices, meats, fish and desserts. Any type of food that you want, they are most likely going to have. The prices are a little bit more expensive, but it is worth it. It has been open for around five years and is partly owned by ex Barcelona football player, Patrick Kluivert. Carpe Diem is located on the boardwalk along the beach in Barceloneta at 32 Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta. For more information, as well as a drink and food menu, you can check out their website here.

Despite of the bad weather in Barcelona this weekend, we went to a club called Shôko, not just to go out but to have dinner first. They have one of the most beautiful terraces in the whole of Barcelona. The tight but yet loungy interiour, the nice people working there, the good-looking menu; fine cuisine and the sights from the terrace to the beach at night really attract people to have a nice and cosy dinner at Shôko. Even though the weather wasn’t that good, we sat outside near one of their heaters and didn’t notice the bad weather at all.
We made a reservation when we passed there in the afternoon, but in the evening we arrived too early. However, this was no problem, because then we had the opportunity to take a look around and have a drink at the bar first. Afterwards we moved to the terrace to have dinner and a bottle of Cava for less than 35€ per person. Before heading home, off course, we went inside to start a long night of clubbing at Shôko.Do you want to go out to Shôko or another club without having to queue or pay an entrance fee?
Subscribe to our guestlist and we can get you in for free!!!
